Samuel VERGES, carrying the project EXPEDITION 5300 is a doctor in physiology and former high-level sportsman. A researcher in the laboratory of Hypoxia and cardiovascular and respiratory physiopathology (HP2) at the University of Grenoble-Alpes, he has published numerous international scientific articles. He is President of EXALT (Center of Expertise on Altitude) and has led numerous high altitude scientific expeditions.

His expertise focuses on the factors limiting exercise performance in the patient and the healthy subject, the study of neuromuscular fatigue and hypoxia, as well as the use of exercise training as an therapeutic information.

Samuel is also a former high-level biathlete. This mountain lover is now practicing cross-country skiing and trail running, especially on long distances.
