Half Swiss/half Belgian, Laura is a PHD student working in blood adaptations. She wrote her master’s thesis with Prof. Carsten Lundby in Zurich and started thereafter her PhD under his supervision at the Center for Physical Activity Research in Copenhagen. Her PhD is about the adaptations of blood volume to heat and hypoxia and the mechanisms underlying these adaptations. With Expedition5300, she gets the unique opportunity to measure blood volume at a very high altitude in different conditions.
This project connects her fascination in research with her passion to travel and to spend time in the mountains. She likes being outdoors where I hike, ski, bike, run and go kayaking.
