Dr Paul Robach is a sports physiologist specializing in altitude hypoxia, with a focus on blood volume and its regulation. His research also focuses on altitude training and performance in athletes. He has conducted numerous high-altitude field studies in the Alps and also during a simulated climb of Everest for a month in a hypobar room.

He has a thorough knowledge of blood volume determination with the carbon monoxide re-inhalation technique. Paul Robach is also a certified high mountain guide and high mountain guide trainer at ENSA Chamonix.
